Sony Reader - PRS-505 Review
For Valentine’s Day my husband and I decided to get each other a Sony PRS-505 eBook Reader. We were looking at getting the Amazon Kindle but unfortunately the software/programs it uses are not supported here in Canada.
I have to say that I am really pleased with this reader. It is really easy to use and has a lot of great features. I especially like the fact that there are 3 different font sizes to choose from. Another great feature is that you can bookmark your page so it is easy to come back to. I like the fact that it is lightweight and has a slim design which is really easy to hold when reading. There are also two different areas to pick from when turning pages; which is great depending on your hand placement when reading. The display isn’t back-lit, which makes it easy on the eyes for reading.
So, what are the pitfalls you ask? I think that because it only supports books bought through the Sony software and PDF files, this may limit you to how many books you can have access to download. I haven’t run into any problems yet, but that is because I have only downloaded books from the Sony e-library site. I was also a bit disappointed at the fact that the books are pretty much the same price as a book you would buy in the store. One would think that prices of an e-book would be less considering the fact that the production/distribution of these books are virtually cost free.
All in all, I am very happy with this purchase and I look forward to reading many books on this device! I will keep you posted with new pros/cons, should any arise!
All in all, i’ve read some great things about this ereader, and am planning on getting one myself as well, regarding the back light aspect of it all, i’d genuinly have to agree with that I’d really wish the kindle was availabe in kindle, but as you mentioned our resources are pretty limited in that aspect. How long have you had it? Any regrets on writing this blog then and realizing what it is now ??
